Brændende Kærlighed (in English Burning Love) is an Old traditional Danish Dish. Perfect to have during Valentine's Day!
Ingredients:
½ lb of peeled potatoes
3 tablespoons of butter
1 white onion, sliced
chopped chives or parsley
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 lb thick bacon sliced into small pieces
a cup of milk or cream
optional: pickled beets and a tossed salad
Instructions:
Peel the potatoes. Bring the potatoes to the
boil in a little water. Let the potatoes cook for about 20-25 min or till soft - without
salt.
Fry bacon in a frying pan and remove it from the pan when it is crisp.
Fry
the sliced onion in the bacon fat until it is crispy and brown.
Next drain the potatoes after they are cooked. Then mash the potatoes and gradually whip in butter and milk. Whisk until the mashed potatoes is light and
airy. Season the mashed potatoeswith salt and pepper.
When you are ready to serve the dish, put the mashed potatoes into the center of the plate. Dip your spoon into the center of the mashed potatoes and make hole in the center. This will look similar to a volcano shape.
Next mix the crispy bacon
and onion together. Then place the bacon onion mix into the center of the mashed potatoes.
Finally, sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley.
Serve the Burning Love with a side of pickled beets and a healthy fresh green tossed salad.

Do you love hot
chocolate? If you don’t happen to have any cocoa, not to worry! White hot chocolate
is a delicious alternative and easy to make! What is wonderful about this drink is you can add different spices that
gives the added warmth. Also try it on a cold and
wintry day to build some cheer.
Here
we show you how to make a White Hot Chocolate which was inspired by the Disney
Movie Frozen! We jazzed up the drink by rimming the glass and topping off the whipped cream to give the beautiful contrast with blue and white colors. Serve this white hot chocolate at your next Frozen party, holiday parties or when you are coming in from the cold!
Drink Ingredients:
2 cups of half-and-half
1/2
cup of white chocolate chips (try to buy good quality white chocolate, as this
will be less waxy and over-sugared––European or European inspired brands are
often best.)
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
whipped cream
Garnish: whipped topping,
cinnamon, cocoa powder, mint leaves and candy canes, marshmallows
Optional flavoring: 1/2 teaspoon
almond extract, 1/4 of a cinnamon stick
Rimming Glass Ingredients:
Honey
Blue sugar, blue sprinkles, blue
snowflake sprinkles
Kitchen Utensils:
medium pot
measuring cup and spoons
1 wooden spoon
1 large mug
2 small plates
Rimming the glass
This is super easy to do and will really make your drink presentation sparkle. Rimming a glass can add an extra decorative touch and an
additional flavor to your drink. You
can prepare rimming the glass in advance. We suggest to serve the white hot chocolate in a clear
glass or mug. Have the rimmed glass in the
refrigerator until you are ready to use.
Place honey one one plate and blue
sprinkles on the other plate. You want to cover the small plates
just enough to use for rimming. (see video)
Turn the clear glass upside down.
Hold the clear glass parallel to the table.
Dip the clear glass rim onto the honey
and give it a good twist
Next, dip the rim onto the blue
sprinkles. Slowly turn the glass so that only the outer edge is
covered.
Place the glass in a refrigerator
or freezer so the honey will harden and the sprinkles stick firmly.
Drink Preparation
In a medium saucepan over medium
heat, combine half-and-half, white chocolate chips, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and
any other spice you might like.
Whisk continuously over low heat until
white chocolate chips are completely melted.
Remove
from heat.
Be
sure to taste it to see if you need to add anything too.
Pour
into mugs and top with a dollop of whipped cream.
Sprinkle garnishes over the top of
the whipped cream. Such things as with blue colored sugar, blue sprinkles,
white chocolate flakes, ground cinnamon or nutmeg.
It's a good idea to serve with the
stirring teaspoon in case there is any delicious white chocolate to
retrieve from the bottom at the end of the drink!
Other great combinations
is replace half and half and use instead
2 cups of
milk
1/2
cup of heavy cream and 1 1/2 cup of half and half
My
family and I are so excited about the movie Frozen. Being Scandinavian it is so much fun to see so many Scandinavian references in the movie Frozen such as Hans Christian Andersen and
Norway. Also we love the characters in the movie including Princess Elsa and
Princess Anna, Prince Hans, iceman Kristoff, reindeer Sven, daydreaming snowman
Olaf!
We hope you enjoyed our recipe and video. Nothing is better than having
white hot chocolate after coming in from the cold. Please let us know if you have any Frozen recipe requests!
