Nutella Hotchocolate with Hazelnut Liqueur

Do you love hot chocolate? If you don’t happen to have any cocoa, not to worry! Nutella hot chocolate is a delicious alternative and easy to make!  Try it on a cold and wintry day and have a treat!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 to 2 cups of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of Nutella
  • 1 teaspoon of hazelnut liqueur, such as Frangelico (optional)
  • Garnish: whipped topping, cocoa powder, mint leaves
Rimming Glass Ingredients:

  • Nutella
  • chopped hazelnuts
Kitchen Utensils:

  • medium pot
  • measuring cup and spoons
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 large mug
  • 2 small plates
Rimming the glass
This is super easy to do and will really make your drink presentation sparkle.   Rimming a glass can add an extra decorative touch and an additional flavor to your drink. You can prepare rimming the glass in advance. We suggest to serve the Nutella hot chocolate in a clear glass or mug. Have the rimmed glass in the refrigerator until you are ready to use.

  1. Place Nutella on one plate and chopped hazelnuts on the other plate.  You want to cover the small plates just enough to use for rimming. (see video)
  2. Turn the clear glass upside down. Hold the clear glass parallel to the table.
  3. Dip the clear glass rim onto the Nutella and give it a good twist
  4. Next, dip the rim onto the chopped hazelnuts.  Slowly turn the glass so that only the outer edge is covered.
  5. Place the glass in a refrigerator or freezer so the Nutella will harden and the hazelnuts stick firmly.
Drink Preparation

1.   In a medium saucepan over medium heat milk and Nutella
2.   Whisk continuously over low medium heat until smooth
3.   Remove from heat once the mixture begins to bubble at edges, about 3 minutes
4.   Optionally add one teaspoon of the hazelnut liqueur or to taste.
5.   Be sure to taste it to see if you need to add anything too.
6.   Pour into your prepared mug and top with a dollop of whipped cream.
7.   Sprinkle garnishes over the top of the whipped cream such as chopped hazelnuts
8.   It's a good idea to serve with the stirring teaspoon in case there is anything delicious to scoop up from the drink!

Braided Nutella Bread - Nutella Stjerne Brød - BlumenBrot

Have you tried braiding bread before?  If you make this for a party, everyone will be amazed to see how stunning this bread is and wonder how you made this pretty bread.  You will get comments how delicious this braided bread is too!  Be prepared to have requests for the recipe.

Below is the pattern of a Nutella Braided Star Bread.

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cup (450 g) of bread flour
  • 1/3 cup (70 g) of sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 g) of active dried yeast
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) melted unsalted butter
  • 3/4 (180 ml) of a cup of warmed milk (85F)
  • 2 egg yolks (use the whites to glaze the bread)
  • 1 cup (200 g) of Nutella
Tools:

  • large bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • rolling pin
  • 1 small bowl
  • spatula
  • saucepan
  • baking sheet (buttered & floured)
  • linen cloth
  • brush
  • small glass or cup
  • sharp kitchen knife

Instruction:

  1. First, pour milk into a saucepan and heat it to 85 F°. When the milk is warm, add yeast, one tbs of sugar and let it sit for 15 minutes to activate. Then add the egg yolks and sugar.
  2. Then, in a large bowl, combine all the ingredients (add cardamom to the flour). Mix everything with a wooden spoon. Knead dough for about 7-10 minutes.
  3. If your dough is smooth and a little sticky, put it into a bowl, cover with a linen cloth, and set it in a warm place. Let it rise for 1 - 1 1/2 hour or double in size).
  4. When the dough is almost ready, you can turn on the oven and heat it to 350°F. Put your chocolate spread into a bowl with hot water.
  5. Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead dough for around 1 minute, then divide it into 4 equal parts and roll it out. Roll the first of four parts into a circle. Place a baking pan or a plate on the dough and cut out a circle with a knife.
  6. Place the dough circle on the baking sheet (with butter and flour) and spread a thin layer of Nutella on the dough with a spatula. Roll out another layer of dough and place it on the previous one and spread it with the Nutella. Repeat the procedure with the next layer and place the last circle on top. Mark the center with a small cup.
  7. Divide the cake into quarters – start cutting from the marked circle (remember to leave the center intact!) Then, divide every quarter into four equal parts. At the end you should have 16 equal parts. Take two parts of the cake in both hands and twist them twice in the opposite directions. Repeat with all pairs to form a star. Twist the ends of each arm underneath to create a round shape.
  8. Brush the surface of the bread with egg white before putting it into the oven. Bake at 350°F, for around 15 to 20 minutes.

Nutella Banana Nut Muffin Recipe - Give it a Nutella Swirl!

We have had a lot of rain lately.  The weather makes me want to do some fall baking.  Here is a simple, quick, and delicious Nutella Banana Nut Muffin recipe.  You can serve these muffins any time of the day warm or cold. Great for to have either for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients:

Flour Mixture:
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 2/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Wet Ingredients:
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 1/3 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 bananas)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Nutella
Kitchen Utensils:
  • 1 large bowl, 1 medium bowls and 2 small bowl
  • measuring cup
  • measuring spoons
  • whisk
  • spatula
  • ice cream scoop
  • knife
  • fork
  • cutting board
  • 6-cup Jumbo muffin pan
  • toothpick

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and position a rack in the center of the oven.
  2. Grease or line a jumbo size muffin pan.
  3. In a medium bowl add the flour mixture:all-purpose flour, wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.  Set aside.
  4. Now take 2-3 tablespoons of your flour mixture and put it in a small bowl of chopped walnuts.  Give a quick little mix to coat so the flour adheres to the walnuts.  That way when the muffins are baking, the walnuts will not sink all of the way down.
  5. In a small bow, mash the bananas.
  6. Next in large bowl, whisk the smashed bananas, yogurt, brown sugar, egg, vegetable oil and vanilla extract.
  7. Slowly mix the flour mixture into the wet ingredients with a few light strokes and until the dry ingredients are moistened.  The batter should not be smooth so don't over mix.
  8. Fold in walnuts.
  9. Fill muffin tins 1/2 full using an ice cream scoop.
  10. Add 1 teaspoon of Nutella in each muffin cup.
  11. Add another spoonful of batter in each muffin cup.
  12. Top each muffin with about 1 teaspoon of Nutella.
  13. Bake the muffins at 425°F first 5 minutes.  Then reduce the temperature to 375°F and bake the muffins for another 25 minutes until tops are lightly golden.
  14. The easiest way to tell if the muffins are baked is to insert a toothpick into the center.  If the toothpick comes out clean then you know they are done.
  15. Transfer to a wire rack and let the muffins cool in the pan for10 minutes.
  16. These muffins are best when freshly baked, but they’re still good the second day.
