How to make St Lucia Buns ❆ A Swedish Saint Lucia Saffron Bun Recipe ❅ Lussekatter

St Lucia Day is the "beginning" of Christmas (Jul) in Sweden.  St Lucia celebrations includes the Swedish saffron scented buns called Lussekater or Lussebullar.


Ingredients:   
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 pkg. of dry active yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of raisins
  • extra  raisins to decorate

Kanelbullar - Swedish Cinnamon Roll Twists - Kanelsnurror

 
Swedish Cinnamon Roll Twists
 Ingredients

  • Approx. 7 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 tsp yeast
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 10 tblsp melted butter
  • approx. 1/8 cup cinnamon and sugar
  • Egg wash and pearl sugar

Instruction:
  1. Mix the flour with milk, sugar, etc. and knead untill smooth. 
  2. Let it rise for about 1 - 1.5 hour. 
  3. Roll out the dough, spread it with butter and dust with sugar and cinnamon.
    If you don't have pearl sugar. you can sprinkle regular sugar too.
  4. Shape the buns.
  5. Brush them with egg wash and sprinkle with pearl sugar.
  6. Let the buns rise for approx. 45 min.  
  7. Bake them at 450F for approx. 13-15 min.
Enjoy the cinnamon twists warm.  Tastes great with butter.

Sunflower Spinach Pie - A Pretty Twisted Bread Recipe - Solsikke formet brød med spinat - Inspired by Disney Frozen Fever


Have you tried twisting bread before?  This is a delicious Sunflower Spinach Pie recipe that will have your family and friends begging for more! Plus this Sunflower bread is sooo pretty with the twisted bread!  Perfect to serve to your family and friends while watching the movie Frozen Fever.

Dough
  • 3 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 3/4 cup milk,
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

 Filling
  • 12 oz. of boiled spinach
  • 12 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 4 oz grated parmesan or mozarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • salt, pepper
  • optional: nutmeg
  • breadcrumbs
  • sesame seeds
Instructions
Place all dough ingredients in a bowl and use and electric mix,, finish by hand.Knead until the dough is smooth. Cover it and leave it for approx. 1 hour while you prepare the rest of the ingredients

Create the filling, mix the spinach with the ricotta and shredded cheese. Add the egg, salt, pepper (nutmeg), and set it aside.

Divide the dough into two equal parts and roll each dough ball to create two circles.

Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on the first circle and distribute the spinach filling. Place one large dollop in the center of the circle (cover it with a small bowl), and sprad the remaining spinach in a ring around the edge of the dough. finally place the last circle of dough on top of everything. Springle the sesame seeds on top of the center.

Divide the dough around the bowl into approx. 16 slices and twist each slice. Seal the edges using a fork to press.

Twist each slice and continue until all slices are twisted.

Seal the edges using a fork to press. Brush the bread with eggwash. Let it rise for approx. 1/2 hour and bake in the oven at 350F for approx. 1/2 hour.

This is a great to tear and share at your next party

Tastes great as is or with your favorite dipping sauce.
